Vodafone have recently taken aim at Optus‘ $59 Extreme Cap, by offering a $10 monthly credit to new customers who sign up to their existing $69 Cap. That brings it in line with Optus’ $59 Extreme Cap. It does however match and raise the $59 Cap to new heights.

Optus have announced their pricing for the launch of the iPhone 4 here in Australia. Along with that announcement was another play in the all out price war, sweeping through the Australian telco landscape. This time, Optus annouced another new set of plans to go along side the already new and existing Max Caps – say hello to the ‘Extreme Caps’.
These are extremely aggressive pricing made by Optus, they combine a good portion of data ala Virgin’s new Smart Caps and a great deal of credit ala VHA’s new caps. I wonder how this will play into both Virgin and VHA when they announced their own iPhone 4 pricing, which is expected within days.

Australia mobile carriers are currently in a all out price war. Virgin and VHA announced new plans for July 1st and Telstra also did a refresh not too long ago, now Optus have joined in. Only 3 or so months since the announcement of the ‘Social Caps’ they are now going by the wayside in favour of the new ‘Max Cap’ plans being released 4th of July. This would be great timing considering Ausdroid has posted about the Galaxy S dropping to $0 on a $49 Cap with Optus. However you really don’t get much in the way of extras over the existing ‘Social Caps’ The $19 has a value increase and the $79 has a data decrease, so for the life of me i can only think it’s a re-badge of sorts. Breakdown of the plans after the break.

I have heard from both Optus and VHA (Vodafone & 3) that Micro SIMs for the Apple iPad and alleged new iPhone will be in extremely short supply for the first few weeks from launch. Stores have only been receiving stock in 1s and 2s and some stores are yet to receive stock. So if you . . . → Read More: Micro SIMs to be in extremely limited supply

Optus Micro SIMs have started to hit stores today, pending the release of the iPad here in Australia. With only Apple stores and Premium resellers allow to sell the device at this stage, getting an iPad is going to be harder then getting an iPhone on release day and those were sold through every phone carrier and dealer store. This is a huge blow for the carriers as they will not have access to the hardware itself. However it is rumoured that VHA will be stocking the iPad hardware but not at time of launch. Check after the break for a picture of the full Micro SIM Kit.
