UPDATE: I’ve also received word that Vodafone will also be stocking the handsets come Sep 1, at the same price but in the Silver variant
It looks as though Optus will be launching the new Nokia C3 on pre-paid under it’s Boost brand. Priced at $129 in either Black or Pink, the 2 megapixel, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toting full QWERTY handset is due to launch within the next week or so, pending stock availability. All major retailers should be stocking the handset, so if you like the look or sound of it, hit them up.

Vodafone have recently taken aim at Optus‘ $59 Extreme Cap, by offering a $10 monthly credit to new customers who sign up to their existing $69 Cap. That brings it in line with Optus’ $59 Extreme Cap. It does however match and raise the $59 Cap to new heights.
Optus’ $59 Extreme gives you $550 of credit, 2GB of Data, Unlimited standard SMS/MMS and Unlimited Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare etc. Vodafone’s offering gives you $650 of credit, 2GB of data or 3GB for the first 12 months if you take an Android handset over 2 years, Unlimited standard SMS/MMS and Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone & 3 calls.
So all in all, it gives you $100 more credit every month, plus an extra gig of data if you take an Android handset and also unlimited calling to 2 networks. Optus does give you unlimited Facebook and Twitter and Foursquare and eBay but i mean with 2GB of data, that should be plenty.
There is a catch with Vodafone’s offering though, it’s only on till the 25th of November, So get signing.

UPDATE: Video added after the break.
After being spotted and videoed on a Sydney train only a matter of days ago, Samsung have finally unleashed an official teaser video on its site. Due to be announced at IFA in Germany on September 2nd, the video teases a number of features, including 7″ Screen, HD Video, Augmented Reality, Navigation and Video Calls, all this running on Android 2.2. My guess, with an official launch only a week away, and already being out and about, and with Optus looking at Android based tablets, this could be something that goes to market very quickly here in Australia and hopefully so, because it looks awesome.

After weeks of rainchecking and non existent stock. I have been hearing reports of stock starting to trickle into stores for customer to just walk in and buy or connect. I’ve heard that Vodafone stock is starting to become available, with some stores telling me its the first time they have seen stock since launch, 3 weeks ago. If you are after an iPhone 4, i would be ringing around and getting into store ASAP as these are not going to last long.

I have just got a hold of some news that suggests Optus will stock both the HTC Aria, continuing their Android push and the also adding the BlackBerry Torch to their extensive RIM catalogue. The information goes on to say, that the Aria will launch in October and the Torch in November. With those months staring down at us, it shouldn’t be too long before this is confirmed or more information leaks. Hit the break for a run down of the devices.

With the iPhone 4 launched and stock at it’s rarest, Samsung’s Galaxy S starting to come back into stock. I thought it would be a good time to sit down and compare the to best smart phones in the market right now, the Apple iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S. Having both of these devices in my possession has allowed me to do some direct comparisons on such things like, screen quality, signal, multimedia, apps and overall usability of both devices. Hit the break for the first part of this series, the Screen.

I have received word that Optus is starting to receive Galaxy S stock again. Stock is still limited but is at least flowing into stores. So if you haven’t got your Samsung Galaxy S yet and you want it on either Optus or Virgin, start pestering your local store. With cheap deals a plenty on offer at the moment, best be quick.

A video has leaked onto the inter-webs, showing what is rumoured to be Nokia’s UI for it’s up and coming smart phone software – MeeGo. Pulled from a online survey video, it shows the UI split into five different segments, covering start up, multitasking, social interaction, Ovi Store and the music player, however only social, Ovi store and music player are shown in the video.
If this is where Nokia are heading with their UI, I think they are certainly heading in the right direction. It doesn’t look like Symbian but still seems easy and intuitive enough to be able to grasp the workings straight away. Fingers crossed they keep it up. Hit the break for the video.
